The Locations Foundation Hosts 7th Annual Clothing Drive to Support Hawaii’s Families and Children in Need

Nonprofit arm of Hawaii’s leading real estate firm partnering with the community to donate items of clothing from June 12-16 in support of charitable causes

HONOLULU – (May 18, 2017) – The Locations Foundation is pleased to announce its 7th annual Locations Foundation Clothing Drive aimed at collecting clothing and funds for local nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting Hawaii’s children and families in need. This year, the Foundation is excited to partner once again with three deserving nonprofits:

  • The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawaii, dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults with cerebral palsy or other severe disabilities with similar service needs.
  • The Institute for Human Services (IHS), which provides food and shelter to Hawaii’s homeless as well as offering a wide variety of supportive services that allow individuals to reconnect, heal and succeed.
  • Partners in Development - Ka Paalana Homeless Family Education Program, which assists families by providing basic needs items as well as educational programming to equip families toward greater self-sufficiency and prepare children for school success.

From June 12th to June 16th, the Locations Foundation will be turning to Hawaii residents – and their closets – to support their neighbors in need by donating lightly used articles of clothing as well as shoes or slippers, linens, towels, toiletries and job interview-appropriate items for men and women. Matching these community efforts, the Locations Foundation will donate $1 for every pound of clothing received from Hawaii residents – including clothing donations from Locations agents and staff – with an ultimate goal of providing 15,000 pounds of clothing and $15,000 to families and children in need.

“Every year we look forward to the opportunity to give back to our community through the annual clothing drive. This year, we anticipate working with the community to collect 15,000 pounds of clothing, which we will match dollar-for-pound to support these deserving nonprofits who do so much to empower and improve the lives of families and children throughout the state,” said Chad Takesue, president of the Locations Foundation. “Last year, we partnered with the community by making the clothing drive public for the first time. We look forward to working with Hawaii residents again this year to fulfill the Locations Foundation’s mission of supporting local keiki and families in need.”

For this year’s clothing drive, the Locations Foundation will be setting up key collection points at the following Locations sites:

  • Diamond Head: 614 Kapahulu Ave. #300
  • Kailua: 151 Hekili St. #120
  • Kapolei: 91-579 Farrington Hwy. #206
  • Kapolei Retail: 91-590 Farrington Hwy. #125
  • Mililani: 95-720 Lanikuhana Ave. #120
  • Pearlridge: 98-161 Kaonohi St.
  • Pearlridge Retail Kiosk: Pearlridge Shopping Center – Uptown
  • Windward Retail Kiosk – Windward Mall - Kaneohe

An official weigh-in of all items donated will take place at the Locations company picnic on June 17th. All articles of clothing and funds raised will be divided evenly between the three nonprofits to share with the children and families in need that they assist statewide.

Buoyed by the community’s involvement, the Locations Foundation Clothing Drive is the largest corporate-sponsored clothing drive in the state of Hawaii, having donated nearly 30,000 pounds of clothing since its inception in 2011. Last year the clothing drive opened to the public for the first time with resounding success, donating 10,000 pounds of clothing. This year, the Locations Foundation is eager to exceed that number by partnering with the community once again.

As the not-for-profit arm of Locations – Hawaii’s most-trusted locally owned and operated real estate agency – the entirety of Locations Foundation is comprised of more than 200 Locations realtors and staff, who provide monetary donations and volunteer hours to support over 100 local charitable organizations working to improve the lives of families and children in Hawaii. Last year, the foundation donated more than $306,500 and 1,400 volunteer hours to community service projects.
