Aloha! Founded in 1836 by King Kamehameha III, The Royal Hawaiian Band is the only band in the United States with a royal legacy. With cultural roots dating back to the time of the Hawaiian monarchy, the mission of the Royal Hawaiian Band is to promote and foster music, both current and historic, to preserve the Hawaiian musical culture, inspire young musicians and ultimately enrich the lives of the people and visitors of Hawai‘i.

First Friday in Chinatown

Hawaii is home to a great number of creative local artists. From abstract to contemporary artists, colorists, digital artists, sculptors, photographers, jewelry designers and other artists, the pool of talent here is definitely thriving and abundant. Some of their artworks not only represent the artist's talent but also showcase the Hawaiian colors, lifestyle and people that inspire a lot of their creations.

During First Friday, these talented artists showcase their work and some interact and speak with visitors. While walking along the streets of Chinatown and Downtown, apart from the abundance of great talent, you will also notice that there are a lot of appetizing and enticing places to check out from cafes, delis and bakeries to restaurants serving Italian, Eurasian, Spanish and Chinese cuisines.

Chinatown is the place to be if you want to join the hip crowds at the many unique galleries, boutiques, cafes and restaurants that feature exciting art exhibits and free entertainment. 

Come to see the main events between 5 and 9 pm, and stay for the late night party at some of the trendiest, most popular bars in Honolulu.

Stepping Out

In a comedy about perseverance and friendship, eight bumbling amateur tap dancers step on one another's toes - and not just because most of them have two left feet!

Seven women and one brave man, all from disparate backgrounds and with different motivations, attend the same weekly tap dancing class in a dingy North London church hall.  As they learn their steps, we learn about their personal lives, some of which are filled with secret sadness and frustration - problems which are thrust front and center, and cause a series of clashes that threaten the troupe's performance at a special concert.
