To qualify for Affordable Housing, applicants must meet all Hawaii Housing Finance & Development Corporation (HHFDC) eligibility and household income requirements with units subject to HHFDC's Use, Sale and Transfer Restrictions ('Buyback') and Shared Appreciation Equity ('SAE') Program restrictions.

You may be eligible for Affordable Housing if you meet the following criteria:

• First-time homebuyer or Qualified Resident 
• U.S. Citizen or permanent resident alien 
• At least 18 years of age
• Domiciled in the State of Hawaii and will physically reside in the unit purchased 
• Do not own a majority interest (more than 50%) in a fee simple or leasehold property suitable for dwelling purposes anywhere in the world 
• Do not have income exceeding 140% AMI 
• Have sufficient gross income to qualify for the loan to finance the purchase 
• Have household assets for initial deposit and down payment 
• Demonstrate a need for affordable housing in accordance with state law
